Will any sculpture I make in my first year get a purchase offer?

YES

This market resolves yes if someone makes an offer to buy a sculpture I make in 2023. No purchase has to go through, but there needs to be a real intention to buy at a reasonable price. If it's a commission, the work needs to be done by the end of the year.

Nice!!!

predicted NO

Betting against people's personal goals is weirdly nice, because I end up feeling good about the resolution regardless of how it turned out.

predicted YES

The ceramics department held a fundraiser, so I put some work up for sale, including one piece I had otherwise intended to scrap. I just heard it was purchased by … my professor. This is maybe the highest compliment of my entire life as a potter, to have an artist I respect immensely want to buy my work, for some reason I can’t fathom?

predicted YES

@Alice Hell yeah, massive congrats.

predicted NO

@Alice Congratulations!

Do you have a web site? I'd love to see a link!

predicted YES

@EvanDaniel Not yet, but I’ll try to post some pictures in my other sculpture markets once I’m done firing!

The title+description reads to me like (correct me if im wrong) : if you make the sculpture in 2023, say december, and get the offer for purchase in early January, presumably that is acceptable for the market? In that case perhaps the close date can be modified?

predicted YES

@firstuserhere Oh, based on the wording of the question and description, that seems reasonable.

What kind of sculptures do you make? Did you ever sell any?

predicted YES

@mariopasquato I don’t have experience making any prior to this year, so I’m just bumbling about trying to figure this out. This market is part of my goal to learn to sculpt this year.

predicted YES

There is no sculpture, no client, and no purchase in sight. I’m not going to bet no, but this market is way too high.

predicted YES

Someone’s requesting a commission and I’m deciding whether I’ll have time to take on this project.

predicted YES

The commission has an usually short timeline, so I’m going to refer this client to other artist friends instead.

I'm going to a sculpture conference this weekend. It's possible for buyers to purchase work at this show, but the sculpture I'm planning to send is highly personal and I don't intend to sell (but would accept commissions).
