Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif has been the target of a vicious internet campaign claiming initially that she is transgender and later intersex.

The roots of the dispute stem from her disqualification from a International Boxing Association's event in 2023 in which the the IBA declared "the athletes did not undergo a testosterone examination but were subject to a separate and recognized test, whereby the specifics remain confidential."
